Once again I have fallen off of the daily blogging. This section went through Yellowstone National Park, briefly, and finally into Wyoming. The CDT just clips the western corner of the park, but it does manage to go through some incredible geyser basins and by Old Faithful. Old Faithful had about 3,000 people around it, but the amazing thing is that once you get into the woods on trails, there are still all of these little tiny geysers, just humbly bubbling along the sides of the trail. It was a cold, misty, rainy day the day that we walked through the heart of the geysers, which made a beautiful effect, steaming up through the fog. The trail has somewhat leveled out, with one brief climb up onto the ridge for a brief view of the Tetons. Most days were hot, hot, hot.
Dubois is yet another little cowboy town. We got picked up on our hitch into Dubois by a former ranger, who told us many great stories of his 28 years with the NPS. Next stop, the Wind River Range!
