and one more day at Carolyn Downs. It’s been busy here, as it always is before a major change like this. I’ve felt kind of numb–things like buying bear spray, sending food boxes to Montana, saying goodbye to everybody don’t seem like anything real, that will actually translate to things I will be doing just next week. Life has been sleepy and comfortable, except for the occasional jolt like last weekend’s glacier climb in the North Cascades. We started moving at 6 am and finished at 9 pm on Sunday. It was everything beautiful, and hard, and awake. And I felt that I was settled back into my skin, in a way you only feel when you are up in the high country.
I’m experimenting with different ways of writing this blog and hope to post most days (or write, and post in town.) I regret not documenting more of the PCT–it lives on in my memory, with sunshine and endlessly winding ridge lines, but I’m scared I will someday forget. Feel free to follow along with me on my way.
